Our story
Why we exist.
StepInside was born from a simple belief: the best travel moments aren't planned, they're discovered.
We simply help you step inside.
The beginning
We kept missing
the good part.
We saw a world where travellers arrived in beautiful places, but missed out on what made them special that day — the hidden gem, the local event, the small business that had something extraordinary to offer.
You'd find out on the drive home. The market had been on that morning. The gallery hung new work on Thursday. The little place two streets back does the best thing you'll eat all year, and it was open the whole time you were queuing somewhere else because a website told you to.
Meanwhile the businesses had the opposite problem. Something wonderful was happening inside their four walls and no practical way to tell the hundred people walking past who would have loved it — not without an agency, a budget, or a following they'd spent five years building.
Both sides were standing on either side of the same closed door.
Our mission is to connect travellers and local businesses through real-time discovery, creating unforgettable experiences for everyone.
What we built
We built StepInside to open the door to the real, the local, and the right-now.
Because every place has a story.
Our brand values
Six things we
won't compromise on.
- 01Curiosity
The best days start with a question rather than a plan. We build for the person who wonders what's down that street, not the one who booked it six weeks ago.
- 02Community
The people who know a town are the people who live and work in it. Our job is to hand them the microphone, not to rank them from an office somewhere else.
- 03Authenticity
If it isn't happening, it isn't on StepInside. No stock imagery, no borrowed photography, no "representative of a typical evening". The camera points at the room as it is.
- 04Optimism
Something good is happening near you right now. That belief is the whole product — and most days it turns out to be true.
- 05Exploration
Everything here carries a shelf life. Today's post is gone tomorrow, which is the only honest way to answer "is it worth going?"
- 06Connection
The measure isn't screen time or impressions. It's whether somebody walked through a door they'd otherwise have walked past — and whether the person behind it was glad they did.
Where we're going
Town by town,
door by door.
We're not launching everywhere at once, because a discovery app with nothing to discover isn't worth opening.
Instead we open one community at a time, alongside a small group of founding hosts who help us get it right before anyone else arrives. They shape what gets built, keep their founding-host badge permanently, and give the first explorers something real to walk into on day one.
If that's your town — or your business — we'd like to hear from you.
Follow along
Watch it come together.
We post the places we're finding, the towns we're opening, and the hosts joining us — as it happens.
The world is waiting.
